Are you a Monsters, Inc. fan and looking forward to meeting James P. Sullivan, better known as Sully from the beloved city of Monstropolis? Read on to find out how to meet him and score a great big monster hug at Hollywood Studios.
Have you ever wanted to get swallowed up in a big blue fluffy monster hug? Or come face-to-face with the top scarer of Monsters, Inc.? If this sounds like something you’d be down for, you can luckily accomplish both of these feats by meeting Sully over in Hollywood Studios.
In this post, I’ll be sharing with you about where you can find Sully, how to check wait times, if it’s available for FastPass+, and more.
Ready to take a trip to visit Monstropolis? Come along all you monster fans…let’s check it out!
Sully can be found at Hollywood Studios in the Walt Disney Presents theatre building. This is located behind the Chinese Theatre on the right as you’re making your way towards Toy Story Land.
Once you enter the Walt Disney Presents theatre, you will need to travel towards the back of the building to find where the line begins.
On your way, don’t forget to check out the exhibits showcasing the life of Walt Disney and the history behind his vision of the Disney parks. It’s super neat!
And because this is the Walt Disney Presents theatre, you can watch a short film while you’re there! The showings rotate between a short biography of Walt Disney or a preview for an up and coming film.
Typically you can meet with Sully between 10AM – 6PM each day. Just to be on the safe side, be sure to check the official times in the Entertainment section of the My Disney Experience app. You can also pick up a Times Guide upon your entry into the park.
While no character meet times are guaranteed, don’t hesitate to ask a cast member or inquire at Guest Relations if the posted times have changed.
**UPDATE** Since the 2020 reopening of Walt Disney World, traditional character experiences are not available until further notice. You can, however, find Sully walking the streets in the Pixar Character Motorcades in Hollywood Studios. The typical route begins at the entrance of the park and makes a left at the Chinese theatre and ends around Star Tours.
Disney Cavalcades are posted in the Entertainment section of the My Disney Experience app, however, posted times are approximate. You never really know when these will pop us. The surprise element can be fun…and just to give you a little peace of mind, we’ve been able to see each cavalcade at least twice each day that we are in the park. These run continuously throughout the day, so don’t worry as you’ll have multiple opportunities to see them.
Currently, meeting with Sully does not have a FastPass+ option.
Sully was such a unique character to meet! He’s ridiculously tall and that blue fluffy monster hair is just too much! Don’t let his big horns or claws scare you. He was such a lovable guy and was very generous with the hugs and high fives. He made sure to take his time to pose for both family photos and individual shots with the kids. Keep in mind that Sully does not sign autographs.
Previously, this character meet and greet also included Mike Wazowski. Since February 2020, Mike has been retired from this experience. We were SO disappointed with this! We personally hope that Disney will bring him back soon! Look how awesome he is!
If you’ve got a member in your family who is just dying to meet Mike, then be sure to visit the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor in the Magic Kingdom as an alternative. This is an interactive comedy show hosted by Mike. You can even text a joke before the show and it might even be used during the show. Now that’s fun!
Have you met Sully before? Or maybe you were lucky enough to meet the Sully and Mike duo? Let us know your experience below!
